Updated: Oct 12, 2020

UPDATE: You can now watch my short horror film, "Gravidity", by clicking here.

In honor of #halloween (our favorite holiday here at Marble Castle Entertainment), here are 5 horror movies you can watch to celebrate the spooky season- if you dare!

Check out our top picks below and where you can watch them.

1. "In The Tall Grass", Netflix (free)

What is it about?

"After hearing a boy's cry for help, a pregnant woman and her brother wade into a vast field of grass, only to discover there may be no way out."

Based on a Stephen King story, this suspenseful thriller will keep you out of any tall grass for the foreseeable future.

Watch if:

You're looking for something suspenseful, eerie, and heart-pounding, made by an incredibly talented group of people.

Fun Fact:

In the film, there's a 1959 Chevrolet standing outside the church with its grille customized to resemble Christine, the 1958 Plymouth from Stephen King's novel with the same name.

2. "The Conjuring", Amazon Prime/Netflix Premium

What is it about?

"Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse."

Based on the true experiences of Ed and Lorraine Warren, this supernatural horror will make you sleep with the lights on.

Watch if:

You're in the mood for a good supernatural horror film based on true events with talented acting, based in the 1970's.

Fun Fact:

When the movie was shown in the Philippines, some cinemas had to hire Catholic priests to bless the viewers before showing it. This was due to some viewers having reported a "Negative Presence" after watching the film.

3. "The Babadook", Amazon Prime

What is it about?

"A single mother and her child fall into a deep well of paranoia when an eerie children's book titled "Mister Babadook" manifests in their home."

You'll never look at children's books the same way again.

Watch if:

You like flawed characters and horror movies with substance. Also if you like supernatural horror films that blend with psychological thrillers, this one's for you.

Fun Fact:

In Hebrew, ba-badook means "he is coming for sure."

4. "Oculus", Amazon Prime

What is it about?

"A woman tries to exonerate her brother, who was convicted of murder, by proving that the crime was committed by a supernatural phenomenon."

Watch if:

You like family drama, twists and turns, film's that keep you on edge, wondering what's real and what isn't.

Fun Fact:

This was Karen Gillan's first American role and the entire film was shot in 24 days.

5. "Get Out", Amazon Prime

What is it about?

"A young African-American visits his white girlfriend's parents for the weekend, where his simmering uneasiness about their reception of him eventually reaches a boiling point."

Watch if:

You love horror movies with a smart and savvy lead character, unnerving tension, twists and turns, and a powerful ending.

Fun Fact:

With his three nominations at the 2018 Academy Awards, Jordan Peele became the first African American to be nominated for producing, writing and directing in the same year.
